WHO WE ARE
The Goochland TEA Party is a vibrant, grass roots group of area patriots who believe a better community results from a limited government that practices constitutional adherence. We share energy and effort to affect awareness and change on local, state and national issues and provide opportunities for citizen involvement in keeping the Republic.

We are committed to advancing and strengthening the Founding principle that Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are God-given rights guaranteed to every individual by the Constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia. We believe that government derives its power from the people and that government is established solely to protect these rights.
We believe that local governments, communities, and individuals are best suited to serve and represent the needs of the people. Most importantly, we believe that citizen participation in the political process is a fundamental necessity for good government. GOALS:

Motivate individuals to defend liberty and our Constitutions through their involvement in the political process.

Promote and support candidates that share and believe in the values required to defend our Constitutional Republic.

Educate the public on the Constitutions, our founding principles, and the political process.

Mobilize individuals to assert a unified and influential voice in our Constitutional Republic.

Help Establish proper checks and balances between the federal and state governments.

Advocate legislation in the Virginia General Assembly and U.S. Congress that is consistent with our charter and mission.

Engage in peaceful public discourse through protests, rallies, petitions, open debate, and personal interaction with our political representatives.

Share our vision with people of all races, religions, age groups, and civic and political affiliations, and invite their partnership and participation in the TEA Party movement.

Code of Conduct
The Goochland Tea Party expects to conduct its activities in accordance with the highest standards of conduct. Full compliance with the letter and spirit of the laws is fundamental to the Goochland Tea Party organization. Equally important are honesty, integrity and fairness in all of our interactions within the organization and with others. Diligently applying these standards allows the Goochland Tea Party to earn the trust and respect of our co-volunteers, with our donors and vendors, and with the public in general.
In all actions, Goochland Tea Party volunteers are also expected to uphold the values of the Goochland Tea Party and the values in the U.S. Constitution established by our nation’s Founders. Specifically, these include actions taken by Goochland Tea Party volunteers during public rallies and demonstrations, online or through social media, and through interpersonal interactions with other people, regardless of others’ political views or behavior.

Accordingly, the following behaviors are considered acceptable and expected of all Goochland Tea Party volunteers. Any violations of these expectations will be reason for dismissal from the Goochland Tea Party:

Engage in peaceful public discourse

Respect the rule of law and the processes for political and policy action established under the U.S. Constitution

Spirited debate is a core and essential element of our political system; however, under no circumstances is it acceptable for Goochland Tea Party volunteers to subject others to slurs or insults based on race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, handicap or gender.

In order to promote trust and confidence amongst the Core Leadership Team Members, information shared at Core Leadership Meetings are to be treated with strict confidentiality and not to be shared outside the Core Team members unless previously agreed upon.
Under no circumstances is it acceptable for a Goochland Tea Party volunteer to engage in unlawful or violent behavior in the pursuit of the policy or political objectives.
It is the expectation of the Goochland Tea Party Leadership that every director, officer and all other volunteers of the Goochland Tea Party will comply with the letter and spirit of this Code and to actively participate in the activities of the Goochland Tea Party according to the highest standards of honesty and integrity. It is also required for a volunteer of the Goochland Tea Party who becomes aware of a breach of the Code to report the incident to the Committee Chairman or other leader of the Goochland Tea Party immediately. Volunteers not complying with the Code of Conduct may be disassociated from the Goochland Tea Party.
